Refreshers
all cargo courses must be refreshed within a 24 month period. these courses will include updated DFT information, and cover core modules relevant to levels undertaken
NXCT
THE PURPOSE of this Department for Transport mandatory test is to set a standard for security screening by ensuring that all operators of X-ray equipment can demonstrate the necessary skills to be effective at the X-ray screening task.
X-RAY EQUIPMENT within an aviation security environment can only be operated by someone who has passed the NXCT, computer-based competency test. There is a specific test for cargo X-ray operators and a separate test for staff screening baggage.
THE TESTS are computer based and last approximately 1 hour. The operator must pass the test each year (within 13 months) to remain qualified. The test is divided into 3 main parts – each testing a different aspect of the operator’s skills.
TO BE ELEGIBLE to sit the Cargo NXCT, candidates are required to hold a current Air Cargo Security ‘COS’ certificate which must include Module 14 from the training syllabus ‘Using Cargo X-ray Equipment’.
Known Consignor
Known Consignors are required to undertake approved Aviation cargo security training as there are tighter security controls in place to be compliant with EC Regulations.
The questions that we, as an approved DfT training company, are being asked, is what is the best way to get our staff trained. We have developed, to our knowledge, the only eLearning system that fully meets the DFT requirement in regards to you being able to choose the required modules of training for your staff. Your staff must only receive the modules of training that are relevant to their job function. It is not possible to train all your staff using the same training package. The eLearning computer based training gives you greater flexibility, but it may not suit everyone. In this case we continue to offer classroom based training at your site or our training.
